COVID 19 – Corona Virus update – Click for latest update from CRBC and BUGB

Coronavirus

We want to keep you up-to-date with information and updates about Coronavirus from both the BUGB and professional opinion so that we can take appropriate action.

In light of the introduction of national lockdown in England from 5 January and the ongoing ‘alert level 4’ introduced across Wales on 20 December, the BUGB strongly encourages churches not to open their buildings for in-person meetings if at all possible.

The BUGB recognise that both the UK and Welsh Government guidelines allow churches to remain open during this period. However, given the significant increase in numbers of Covid-19 infections and pressure on the NHS, they advise churches to stand with the wider community in making every effort to limit the spread of the virus.

They will still support churches as they open their buildings to provide vital services to the local community, such as food banks, as has been the case throughout the pandemic.

They understand that geographical contexts differ across both England and Wales and are aware that the decision lies with the local church. Nonetheless they are also mindful of the pressure church leaders are under and the greater risk taken by all those involved in hosting open buildings for whom the BUGB have a duty of care.

This is a changing situation and the BUGB very much hope this will be their advice for only a short period.

The BUGB along with all at CRBC stand together in the hope we have in Christ and we are praying for all at this difficult time.

Our current advice can be found on the BUGB website essential guidance page.

is a very insightful piece from a practicing Christian  who is also a virologist and looks at a few reasons as to why it is safer for the church to remain closed for the foreseeable.
