THE CHURCH FAMILY

CRBC aims to be:

  • A welcoming community for people of all ages and backgrounds, helping people join in and belong

  • A Spirit-filled community, praying, worshipping, and growing in the Fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit

  • A connected community; a church that is more than Sundays, as we love one another

  • A learning community; growing in our knowledge and love of God, from the Bible and one another, as followers of Jesus

  • A sent community; going into the world to serve and make disciples.

CRBC, as with most Baptist Churches, has a “Membership” system, where those who are “Members” have deliberately opted in to various key elements of church life as an expression of their belonging to the church. Membership can be seen most clearly in:

CHURCH MEETINGS

All Members have the chance to discuss and shape the important factors of church life, as together we discern and agree where God is leading us.

CONTRIBUTING

The Members contribute to CRBC so that others can join in. Contributions come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and could include taking on volunteer roles, praying for the people, ministry and mission of the church, financial giving and more.

COMMUNITY

CRBC operates as a family, where Members go first in caring for one another, helping others join in, and ensuring we’re all growing as disciples. It’s the Members who together set the culture, where we hope to make our church family feel a bit like Heaven on earth!

If you’d like to know more about Church Membership, or who we are as a church, please get in touch.

Leadership Team

Deacons

The office of deacon was introduced in the very first church at Jerusalem, to serve in the running of the church.

Deacons are the managing trustees, and look to the best interests of the Church by supporting good accountability and structures within the fellowship. They act on behalf of the Church in between Church meetings, and are accountable to the Church meeting.

Deacons are Church members who are recognised as having good character, mature faith, a servant heart, being worthy of respect, good at encouraging and building relationships, and having wisdom and discernment.  We have up to 12; they are elected for a term of 3 years (2 consecutive terms can be served), and they have a variety of responsibilities including: serving at Holy Communion, supporting the ministry team, leading in making decisions regarding the use of the building, supervising the various duty rotas, and serving with competence on one of our subcommittees: Staffing, Finance, Property/Fabric, Health & Safety, Publicity, Ministry and Worship.

The Officers of the Church are the Lead Minister, alongside the Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer, who are also deacons.

Youth and Children

Creche

Sunday Creche

We spend the first 20 minutes or so together in our services. After that time together, we spread out around the site to different ministries which are designed to cater for different age groups.

The Creche is provided in the Lounge Room (first room on the left at the bottom of the stairs), where 2 volunteers provide a safe and fun place for pre-school aged children. There are normally 2-4 children there, and parents are welcome either to stay in the Lounge with their child(ren) and the team, where there is a loudspeaker that relays what’s happening in the service, or they can return to the Sanctuary and re-join the service.

Children will be brought back up to the service at around 11:40, just before the service ends… or if your little one is struggling to settle, we might come and get you during the service.

Helen Appah leads our creche team; please do let Andrew know if you’d like her to get in touch with you, or if you have any further questions about our creche or any specific needs to discuss.

Children

Sunday Primary School Aged Children’s Ministry

We spend the first 20 minutes or so all together in our services. After that time together, we spread out around the site to different ministries which are designed to cater for different age groups.

A group for Primary School aged children (4-10 years old) is provided in the Conference Room (straight in front of you when you turn right off the corridor from the Sanctuary), where 2 volunteers provide a safe and fun place for Primary School aged children. There are normally 8-10 children there, where the session is spent finding out more about God and growing in our relationship with Him through looking at the Bible, playing games, doing crafts and sharing group discussions.

Children will be brought back into the service at around 11:40, just before the service ends… or if your child is struggling to settle or needs you during the service, we might come and get you, or bring your little one to you!

Anna Mitchell leads our primary school Children’s ministry; please do let Andrew know if you’d like her to get in touch with you, if there were any further questions about our Primary School aged Children’s Ministry, or specific needs you wished to discuss.

There are normally 6-14 young people there, where the session is spent finding out more about God and growing in our relationship with Him through looking at the Bible, playing games and sharing group discussions.
